As I approached the entrance of the restaurant, I noticed that it was dark inside. Despite this, the open sign was illuminated, so I decided to see if the door was unlocked. Upon entering, I encountered extremely poor customer service. I requested a three-piece and a six-piece dinner plate from the cook, specifying my sides for the three-piece fish plate and asking for an extra side of coleslaw. The cook proceeded to mock me for mixing up the names of the menu items and even yelled to the cashier for confirmation. The cashier, who was preoccupied with other customers, seemed uninterested in helping me place my order. Both employees seemed more focused on sarcastically mocking me rather than...

If your from DC you know about H&D. Especially the one that use to by U Street. I don't know about why they closed, but it's missed. This location is tricky to get in. You have to park , back in. Drivers around here ain't friendly, especially when you are trying to make a left turn onto where the restaurant is. I got fish box platter, 3 PC fish, fries and 2pc bread for like $12. The fish is whiting. The taste has changed, it seems that they cut corners and use a cheaper quality of fish. It's a lot thinner and not very crispy as before. You get one tarter sauce and one hot sauce. It's extra after that. I'll continue to support them. Service was good, I just hope they improve on getting higher...

Horace And Dickies is my go-to spot! The friendly team running this legendary seafood and chicken restaurant always makes me feel like a regular—and that’s exactly what I am. I love visiting not just for their delicious menu, but also to catch up and see how everyone is doing, because it’s clear my meal is prepared by people who truly care about their craft. I’m not sure if it’s just me, but this location feels like it’s becoming just as special as the beloved spot on H Street. Their comforting food is perfect for relaxing with friends or enjoying a lunch break with a coworker. Book a table now

We tried the fried fish and fried shrimp dinners. The yams had heavy nutmeg (tasted more like sweet potatoes pie versus yams). The potato salad(8/10)corn and Mac and cheese (7.5/10) was good. The greens (2/10)had sugar in the them. Lots of people put sugar in their greens ‍. A pinch of baking soda would cut the bitterness of the greens. The fish and shrimp were both fried to perfection and seasoned well. Both 8/10 The food was ordered through DoorDash so I can say anything about service or ambience.

I am extremely disappointed with this experience!!! I ordered 2 whiting fried fish dinners. 4 chicken wings and seafood salad. I get home ready to dig in, and the fish is immediately difficult to break apart or chew. It was like eating jerky. The chicken wings were cooked just as hard. I literally threw out more than half this food. It was simply unedible. I'm angry I spent $56 ti throw away half.

Every time we are in the DC area, I plan a trip to Horace and Dickies!! Their food is always delicious, ALWAYS! The fish is fried perfectly and very flavorful! The collards were obviously made with love, seasoned to perfection! The Mac and Cheese taste like my mother in law made and she's a beast in the kitchen. If you're planning a trip to come check out the food, you will not be disappointed!!

I've been visiting Horace And Dickies since I was a child, but it just isn't what it used to be. The service was decent, but the food was disappointing. Everything was lacking in flavor—the hush puppies were hard, the yams watery, the macaroni and cheese tasteless, the fish bland, and even the hot sauce was flavorless. I only gave one star because I had to, not because it was deserved. Book a table now

Amazing staff at the legendary Horace Dickie's. Always wanted to try the fish and crab cakes. Pictured. Will be back for Po'boy, oyster style. Dessert Baker was out of town, but I hear the desserts are perfect.
