We cannot speak highly enough of La Place. We have eaten here on a number of occasions when using this interesting town as a “stop over” .Our recent dinner did not disappoint the set menu was interesting, as usual, but the a la carte choices held extra temptations! The service is always attentive with a great eye for detail and the welcome warm. The wine list is interesting and well explained by the charming proprietor. The people of St.Jean D’Angely are fortunate to have such a gem of a restaurant in their midst we look forward to joining them each time we are in their vicinity.

Set Menu on web page seemed more interesting, but they clearly change that! Choice of two options for each course. The mussels with horseradish were reported as excellent, as were both the fish and pork mains. The starter vegetable terrine was just a little bit bland. The frozen cucumber sorbet was unusual palate cleanser…enjoyed by some, but not by those who don’t like cucumber ! Waitress delightfully friendly and helpful. We enjoyed an excellent bottle of Cahors red. Very pleasant eating in the shady courtyard on a hot evening.

Having not been in France for many months, we were very happy to be able to visit our favourite local restaurant, run impeccably by Pascal. The cuisine is inventive but retains a French feel, chef Loic is a master of flavour and presentation. All produce is locally sourced and the wines well chosen. Service is professional and unobtrusive. There are a number of good restaurants in St Jean but we always return to this very fine establishment.

A fabulous meal, divinely prepared and served by attentive and friendly staff. This was a special occasion and my wife and I appreciated the care taken by the chef and l'equipe to make our lunch truly wonderful. I am glad we live fairly close, so we will be making another visit soon! Highly recommended.
