The restaurant is located inside Motor City Casino on the 16th floor. The atmosphere and ambiance is carefully orchestrated, exuding luxury and class. If you are lucky enough to get a window seat you will enjoy one of the nicest views that Metro Detroit has to offer. The waiting staff is phenomenal, they frequently check on the table topping off water, and their recommendations are catered to the customers restrictions and preferences. I personally requested meals with no alcohol or pork and our waitress was wonderful in suggesting entrees. With that being said the one big downside is the food. Neither my friend nor I had large appetites, so we decided to order drinks along with some appetizers and sides. We chose the Paloma as our drink. I had the lobster mac and cheese, while my friend ordered the Caesar side salad and a twice-baked potato. While we waited for our food, the chef sent over a taste of butternut squash soup, which paired wonderfully with the fresh bread basket. We ended up needing a takeout box for our leftovers! The kitchen treated us to an incredible Street Corn soup (absolutely delicious!), a seafood cocktail (I was tempted to lick the bowl clean), lobster tail served with three delightful sauces (vanilla, avocado, and chili), tender duck, a 45-day aged NY strip with a balsamic glaze, and a lovely filet accompanied by a cognac peppercorn sauce, plus desserts to take home! In between courses, we enjoyed amuse-bouche and palate cleansers that nicely bridged each dish. My wife was pleased, and I was in heaven! I truly can’t say enough wonderful things about this restaurant!
Made the decision to try for our anniversary and it was nice. I ordered the Bell Evans Organic Chicken Breast meal which comes with collared greens smoked turkey confit and pureed squashed. The chicken was very tender and the plated sides decent. I added a side of whipped mashed potatoes which were so good. For dessert, I ordered the Baba Rum yeast cakes with raspberries and whipped cream. I will say this, the rum cakes were soaked to the max and overpowering for my taste. The atmosphere was very very relaxing. Parking was a breeze. Even though we had reservation and arrived early, this was not a problem. We where promptly seat and severed. We each tried a few things off each page of the menu. The lobster mac was very well prepared and one of favorite dishes of the evening. My steak was cooked expertly. However the flavor was not as profound as I expected it to be. We both felt the desert menu was weak at best. On the topic of will we return, we both voted on yes. Based on how simple parking was.
The views were amazing, the ambiance was great, the bread they give you to start tasted so dang good! Why the 1 star, you ask? Because I found a HAIR in my food. The server tried to blame my sister and I for it. The hair was blonde.....we have very dark hair. No blonde in sight. But our server was blonde....yup. Anyways, she didn't seem to care that we had hair in our food. She remade the order, which was nice. Their bathrooms are nice. That's all.
I absolutely love coming here for the Kaiseki with wine pairing. If you have the time and an open mind about food, you simply must try it. Once you've experienced it, you'll find yourself wanting to order it again on your next visit. The chef is very accommodating if you share your preferences and dislikes in advance. The atmosphere and service are both fantastic as well.
Incredible!!! I can't emphasize enough how impressed we all were. I went in with low expectations, but I was completely blown away. I can't wait to go back for dinner again. We booked our table online and noticed from other reviews that we could select our waiter. We chose Helios based on numerous outstanding reviews, and he certainly lived up to the hype. We were seated promptly, and our food was served without delay—it was absolutely delicious. The restaurant itself is stunning, and our overall experience was fantastic.
