This place used to be outstanding and we would sometimes visit as often as once a month. It offered authentic Turkish dishes which you could not easily get else where. We were so disappointed at our last visit that the new menu has been dumbed down to such an extent. Gone is the mixed mezes for 1 which included such things as stuffed vine leaves, falafel, aubergine dip, feta cheese parcels, spicy sausage and more. A few of these you can order as a whole portion but no longer as a meze. Many traditional Turkish dishes seem to have gone and there are now items such as king prawn linguine on the menu. Why? Please don’t pander to fussy eaters who want to eat the same generic creamy food you can...
I hadn't been to Istanbul Grill in a while, but I visited on a Friday night for a family celebration. The updated layout looked great, and I didn't notice any drafts from the doors, which had been a minor problem in the past. All four of us loved our meals, and it actually surpassed our expectations. The sea bass was particularly delicious, as was the sucuk we had as one of the starters. I would suggest sharing starters if dining with a group. The service was attentive without being overbearing. I will definitely be returning.
I stopped by this restaurant during my work break and decided to try the 2-course set menu for £14.50. I ordered the meatballs and the lamb casserole, both of which were fantastic! The meatballs were served with plenty of Turkish bread to soak up the cheesy sauce, and the flavor of the lamb casserole was amazing. The service was friendly and the lunch menu offered great value.
The food was at best poor, I was shocked at the standard of the food, a popular place but I definitely will never visit this establishment again nor do I recommend it. Lovely place to eat. Service was great. Entourage was very nice. The food was just soooo good! Absolutely loved the chicken kebab. And the tzatziki was amazing, best we've had in a long time. Absolutely everything. Welcome and service was A* as was the food and the beer. It was a last minute decision and we went as a family, my mother was visiting. Kids really enjoyed. Food was well prepared and a veritable cornucopia of tastes. Let us all very full and very happy. Highly recommended.
