What struck me first was the generous portion of rice. Typically, rice is served in smaller quantities as a side, but I absolutely loved it! It deserves a solid 10/10 on its own, and I enjoyed it even more with the accompanying sauce. The sauce has a spicy BBQ flavor and a nice, light consistency that I really appreciated. I also tried it with the chicken, and it complemented the dish wonderfully.

Really liked the food. I probably would have never tried this place based on its location and my lack of familiarity with Jamaican food. But recently was on a cruise that stopped in Jamaica and thought the food was pretty good. So we have this place a try and I personally really liked it. My wife thought it was spicy, but she thinks anything more than salt and pepper is spicy so don't take her word for it unless you are the same way. The mac and cheese tasted like Kraft, the sauce was weak, and the chicken was undercooked. The cashier was rude, they were out of several items, and after finally receiving the third dish I ordered, they forgot to give me the drinks I had paid for. I would rate this restaurant 0 out of 5. It feels like a waste of a building infested with roaches. Those giving it five stars must have very low standards and clearly haven't experienced better places.
As a flight attendant from Trinidad on a layover in Houston, I decided to meet some friends for dinner at the Jamaican Jerk Stop, and the food was absolutely fantastic! The owner warmly invited us in, which was just what I expected, as people from the islands are known for their hospitality. I can't wait to return. Everyone should definitely eat here!

I highly recommend giving this restaurant a chance. The food is exceptional, the owner is delightful, and they have been working hard to keep the business going since the Covid pandemic. I was really impressed with the flavors, and the portion sizes are quite generous. I will definitely be bringing my Jamaican friend here when he visits!
If you want legit J chicken then this is place to get that fix. I order out here weekly and its always on point. Everything on the menu is whipped up fresh, if you are ever in the mood for something different in mcallen then give Jamaican j stop a shot, I reccomend it?
Absolutely fantastic! The portion of oxtail is extremely generous. I've recommended this restaurant to over 20 people, and none of them were even aware it existed. You really need to improve your marketing!
