Today March 8th 2023 is International Women's History Day and I would like to take a moment to shoutout Jessy's Pastries. They are an amazing local pastry shop owned and operated by Jessy Nahmias. She grew up in Peru and moved to NYC at the age of 17, where she was exposed to all the great American desserts. Her pastries brings to Oceanside the best sweets of her childhood and also her favorites from her new home. Speaking of new favorites, I popped into the bakery for the first time last week on my birthday and was so glad I did! While the seating area is quite limited, the empanadas here are delicious. I believe the dough is made from flour; it would be great to have options for those needing gluten-free or sugar-free alternatives. I would prefer to make my own plantains, as the ones served were cold and appeared to have been sitting out for a while. The spinach and cheese empanada was overly creamy and had a somewhat slimy texture. However, the chicken was well-seasoned, and the beef met my expectations.
We picked up Empanada's from the Babylon farmers market today and my son loved them. We got beef and cheese and chicken. He was upset that I didn't get more than 6 haha. They were gone too fast to even get a Pic. I am puerto Rican and make Empanada's alot. Every culture makes them different and I have to agree with my son, these were absolutely flavorful and delicious. We'll be back next Sunday!!
I ordered delivery from Jessy's and tried the vegan empanadas. They were really tasty, but I wish they had more vegan cheese options. Overall, I give the food a 5 out of 5!

The savory empanadas and other flavors were very small. I was disappointed and still hungry after eating them. It was a waste of time and money.
