Four of us had lunch at this floating restaurant and it was very enjoyable. The food was great I had Labskaus which is a culinary speciality from Northern Germany and in particular the city of Hamburg. The main ingredients were salted meat cornedbeef but...not from a tin!, herring, beetroot, mashed potato, salad and a friedegg. My wife had matjes herring with salad and both meals were delicious. The restaurant is a converted barge and would I imagine be a fantastic place to have a meal on the deck in summer. Spent an evening on and in the M.S. John Barnett. We came without reservation and managed to get a table on the deck where we enjoyed local specialties for starters. A very sudden onset of thunderstorms forced everybody below decks (and off the lake) for...safety. The staff were very professional in reaccomodating all guests and apologetic about the unavoidable hiccups. We had very good main courses in the scenic dining room with great view over the lake through large portholes, and were able to enjoy equally good deserts on the main deck again after the storms had passed through the area. Service lief etwas schleppend obwohl nicht viele Gäste an Bord waren. Wir hatten dann einen Rhabarber Gin Cocktail bestellt und wunderten uns bereits am Anfang, das er komisch roch die Geschmacksprobe war dann auch nicht besser. Richtig künstlich und von Gin keine Spur. Auf Nachfragen wurde uns dann gesagt, das da Gordons Gin drin wäre. Ich vermute, es war der alkoholfreie Gin. Den hatte ich einmal versehentlich gekauft und der roch wie Lösungsmittel und war ungenießbar. Also lasst es sein.
Ein gemütlich, ungewöhnlich eingerichteter Speiseraum. Die Wartezeit ist gut zu überbrücken, es gibt viel zu sehen und eine Bücherwand sorgt ggf. für Ablenkung. Wir haben das Schiffsrestaurant als Gruppe besucht, über 30 Personen. Leider schmeckte das Essen nicht jedem. Man muss für sich eben die richtige Speise aussuchen, was bei Gruppen mit 1 oder 2 Gerichten plus vegetarisch so eine Sache ist. Mir hat es geschmeckt.

Having been visiting the restaurant a few days ago for an event, I have to say I wasn't impressed by the food. The quality was far from my expectation. The steak we ordered wasn't fresh anymore and smelled funny, also the green beans were swimming...in oil. On the positive site they didn't charge us and we got a free meal. Also the interior and atmosphere were not up to my liking.
Da wir 1-2 x im Jahr Urlaub im Waveboard machen gehört das John Barnett selbst redend mit dazu. Ob Mittagessen oder Abendessen, nachmittags ein Eisbecher oder zwischendurch ne grüne Weisse ,wohlfühlen geht hier immer. Sehr gute regionale Speisen, alles echt lecker und preiswert, dazu immer ein kleines Schwätzchen mit dem netten und sehr gutem Service und der Blick auf den See
Really enjoyed dinner al fresco on the deck, looking out over the water. Food was excellent, as was the wine. This restaurant is apparently not well known, but it should be. It should be ranked higher than it is I suspect it's visited mostly...by locals who are in the know
This restaurant is a boat so you can eat and look over the amazing lake and scenery. We stopped here after a long cycle ride around the beautiful Potsdam. I had a beer and wiener schnitzel, absolutely delicious

An extra point for the location. The service was passable. We had a couple of beers and apple strudel and custard very tasty. The food coming out looked decent German traditional fare.
