Enjoyed our meal. The service was ok. It wasn’t bad just a little slow in a less the packed room and didn’t make it it easy. Example they had a hangar steak on the menu but were substituting with filet that day and our server never told us. We heard the bartender tell someone else. There were 3-4 things like this. My wife had chicken piccata and it was so tasty and very juicy. It came with perfectly done mashed potatoes. I had BBQ shrimp and grits. I’m still a bit dumbfounded by how good BBQ peas, peppers and zucchini was. The atmosphere was very nice. It’s sort of upscale casual. We ate downstairs in the bar area. There’s also a good wine list.
Upon arrival, we were greeted in a somewhat hostile fashion by being told we were 90 minutes late, only to clarify that was a different booking (we were 10 minutes late however). We had made a reservation for 8:30pm and the restaurant was taking bookings until 9pm, only to be told that the kitchen actually closed at 9pm, so I'm unsure how they were going to accommodate us should we have booked for 9pm. The food was okay, the waiting staff were very pleasant and helpful, but ultimately overall a somewhat mediocre experience.
The food at Jo's was incredible! If your in Newport you really should put them on your restaurant list. The Jo's pizza appetizer had a favor profile that if you love goat cheese caramelized onions it is pure joy with every bit. The scallop potato puree had some of the best scallops I've ever had. The dry dock Fish and Chips was fabulous. And don't skip the cocktails or desserts. Enjoy
Jo’s was a solid dinner place. Lobster carbonara is the dish to order—waitress recommended it and while it was expensive, it was worth it. We also ordered duck/lobster quesadilla and lobster bisque which my table enjoyed. Our server was attentive and we enjoyed our experience. I appreciated that they had gluten free options (pasta, rolls).

We ordered take out filet mignon, lobster roll, steak frittes, and two pork chop meals. The meals were ready on time, delicious and well packaged. The portions were very generous. The staff we interacted with were cordial and attentive. We have ordered takeout from many places in Newport and this restaurant was one of the best.
They are so nice! Absolutely . The prix fixe menu was a great deal. They also have a system for gluten-free with blue plates so everyone knows they need to be gluten free. Our daughter has celiac and they were very careful. My chicken piccata was great. Nice ambiance. Gluten-free options abound.
We often go to Joe's for their specials midweek... always excellent food cooked well and great service. Really enjoyed the pork dinner! And some of the best swordfish ever! Had the hanger steak last night great!
Beautiful atmosphere and delicious food we had the lobster carbonara and chicken penne. Highly recommend. Their martinis and mocktails are also delicious. Highly recommend!

Pricey for the quality of the food. Staff I don't think are use to seeing brown people at there establishment to come and eat! Felt like we were rushed!
