Whilst in many ways people say Perth is “behind the times”, cafes like Karibu Cafe prove in fact Perth is more than keeping up. I’d say, they’re leading the way when it comes to alternative dining options which caters for the more healthier lchf (low carb high fat) Banting lifestyle. Jason the owner is really passionate about the message he sells through great food, drinks small goods groceries. Variety of snacks, meals, non dairy milks and infamous bulletproof coffee, plus there are “regular” options should you chose. I thoroughly enjoyed my keto burger bulletproof coffee, public holiday surcharge applicable but that doesn’t phase me, I’d rather cafes open for us to enjoy on days off work.

Search Keto breakfast Perth. First thing that comes up is Karibu Cafe. First warning sign should have been the presence of only photos on their menu. The photos looked good but there was no actual list of what the have. Second warning sign should have been the empty cafe when we arrived. Upon asking at the counter we were advised they don’t do fresh food, only cabinet food. Looking in the cabinet it was clear that not a lot of it was Keto. Again we asked and they pointed out the few Keto food items they had. What my wife and I had was nice but certainly would classify this eatery as Keto and wasn’t worth the trip across town for. Should have gone to Health Freak Cafe as usual.

My second visit in 3 months. First time OK. Last time like an off day. Booked but no tables reserved. Found a space and got our tables and chairs. Coffee good taste but just lukewarm. My salad was tasteless and bore no resemblance to Caesar. It was low carb, low fat, bits of chicken, Two pepper pots empty. Very pleasant assistant tried to fill one but could not find the pepper. On my 4th shake I found one. My 6 companions also not impressed. Boss man spent all this time in animated conversation with a non-customer friend. Has possibilities but needs to try a lot harder.

We purposely came here to try a keto meal that we had not tried. The keto meals are Pre-prepared which makes sense as they are near a hospital and need to be quick. Our keto meals were scrumptious and it felt good. The other meal was fish (flathead) and chips and they were eaten quickly. The meals were well presented. The bulletproof coffee was sooo good! We would definitely return. We ate our meals before I thought of taking a photo.
