The staff are friendly and helpful, and for those of you who can't speak French, they have a good level of English.The selection is wide, but don't turn up here if you are a Vegan or Vegetarian, it really does do just steak and wine.Speaking of wine, they have a decent cellar, which includes a nice array of new world wines, which is not that often here on the Loire. Went to this restaurant for my birthday treat today prior to going to the Cadre Noir show. It certainly didn't disappoint. We both had sirloin steak cooked differently and perfectly. Both were tasty and succulent and the home made chips were wonderful. Interesting choice of sauces to accompany the steaks. I had an Argentinean one called something like Chirrichimi. Very tasty and a welcome change from the usual pepper blue cheese or barbecue sauces offered habitually in this area . Nice puds as well - I had a dame blanch ice cream with hot chocolate sauce and my husband had the warm apple tart. Friendly efficient service. Almost faultless - will certainly go again.
Arrived early evening and restaurant seemed empty. Got seated and realised virtually every other table was reserved. Lots of people without reservations turned away. A fluke that we got a table, but pleased we did. Steaks were excellent, not at all cheap but good value. Wish now I'd been a bit more adventurous with my food choice. Very friendly welcome and modern surroundings. Bit chilly under the aircon because it was a cool summer day. Limited menu but great for the big steak appetites.Desserts a bit pricey especially the café gourmande. Hard to find Argentinian steak in France because French are so proud of their native meat… so go for it, Black Angus is so tasty.Try this with Chimichurri sauce (but spread it on a slice of bread, don’t spoil the meat!).Friendly (and patient) staff, but as I said: not easy to park the car in the neighborhood…
Simply the best place in Saumur to dine at lunchtime and evening if you enjoy a really good steak perfectly cooked and with great service. Plenty of choice, very pleasant surroundings, great wine and food consistently good.
Visited this restaurant three times during our holiday and had excellent meals on each occasion. Steaks are superb - the best we've eaten anywhere.

We had lunch there and the food was delicious! Waiters are friendly and helpful. Nice terrace on the old town square. 100% recommendation.
Good food and very pleasant ambience. The place was buzzing, yet not intrusive. Would definitely return.
