Kingfish is a long standing chippy in Haywards Heath. There used to be a restaurant also, but they have now turned to just takeaway. I would class this fish bar a little hit or miss. Sometimes they have served top class fish and tasty chips. Other times, I have left with greasy chips that have been sitting in a scuttle and fish that seems a little rubbery. I think that some of this comes down to the day of the week, where they will tend to cook and hold some food under lamps on quieter days. This being the case, I would recommend giving them a try on a Friday or Saturday night when they are busy and cooking to order. This may mean that you have to wait a little longer, but as the saying goes...

This chippy was extremely hyped up to myself and my family as being the best in Haywards Heath back when we lived there. We decided to get some fish and chips whilst we were back home and weren't very pleased... The fish that my step dad ordered was greasy and absolutely full of bones with possibly the thinnest batter ever... I ordered a battered sausage and a portion of chips my go to fish and chip order, and the the batter wasn't very flavourful and was very thin. The chips however were very good crispy with a soft inside seasoned with the perfect amount of salt and vinegar! Most chippy's always over salt the chips with a small amount of vinegar and it's overly salted and terrible... Howev...

More than a chippie . Quality of menu is excellent although on the more expensive side when compared to local competitors. Service is generally excellent too with a good atmosphere in the restaurant. The take away side of the business although at busy times the waiting period can be irksome especially if you are hungry! Recommended.

The other reviewer has mistaken Kingfish for somewhere else. It has a restaurant and take away. Food has always been excellent although sometimes a little greasy for some tastes. Very efficient and friendly staff. Only bettered by Jupps in Burgess Hill.
