I ordered a takeaway to be delivered to my hotel whilst on a business trip as the feedback/reviews seemed quite good in general. I ordered Onion Bhaji starter, tandoori mixed Grill which came with a plain Naan, salad and mint sauce. The Onion Bhajis solid, cold and unfortunately inedible, the mint sauce was a khaki colour and not appetising at all (it didn’t taste fresh either). The tandoori mixed Grill was just about luke warm a little salty but edible at least! The salad was old and I’ve already mentioned the mint sauce. The Naan bread was also stone cold and solid. Would not recommend. Ordered lamb and prawn takeaway. Somehow they had overcooked the prawns to the extent you could not even cut them in half! The sauce was thick curdled and tasted like salt and chemicals, it was unnaturally red and almost inedible....Lamb was tougher than shoe leather and barely swallowable. The sauce for this curry was good, so it slightly redeemed itself from the otherwise star review I'd have given. Rice came with overcooked peas and mystery stringy vegetables that we didn't want or need. The naan was good but let's face it, that's almost impossible to get wrong. We live round the corner but will never be returning.
Kismet is amazing. We are relatively new to Cambridge (one year in) and have tried many Indian restaurants and takeaways, but Kismet stands out. They are wonderful at adapting to customer preferences and always serve fresh and consistent food. It has quickly become our favorite spot, which is great as it is local to us.
I have been won over by the few negative critics. I have tried all the curry places in Cambridge except for Navadhanya, which is on my list. Kismet is, in my opinion, the best. The food is delicious and of high quality. The tarka dall side dish is the best I have ever had in my life. It is a fantastic place.
