Simply put: we would never ever set foot in the place, nor would we recommend it to anybody. Why: My wife and I are writing a book on dining establishments along the Gulf Coast from Panama City to New Orleans. We have written half a dozen books on this type of restaurant based travel, having enjoyed dining in three dozen countries around the world. We timed our trip so that we would be specifically at McGuire 's for St. Patrick 's Day we had heard good things about it. We didn 't make it past the door. We arrived about 11 am, and the hostess at the door was simply the rudest person we have ever met. We have been to many, many restaurants that require a wait. We had never met anybody condesce...

McGuire's is great! Every time I've went I've either had a great time or some great food, and sometimes both. I would suggest that you not do as the other reviewer did and try to eat at an Irish restaurant on St. Paddy's. Like pretty much anything Irish on that St. Patrick's Day, McGuire's turns into a bar. The burgers are delicious and there are twenty plus to choose from. The steaks are large, delicious, and reasonably priced. That's the trifecta as far as I'm concerned. The place also brews their own seasonal beers. The Honey ale is my personal favorite. I've lived in Pensacola my entire life and, trust me, you should give McGuire's a shot because it's one of the better spots around.

Cool atmosphere! On Friday evenings there is a bagpipe player that walks through and plays. There 's also a funny Irishman that sings and the popular song is Kiss the Moose . It 's really a cute gig! There are bars and dollars all throughout the restaurant and other items that will shock and awe you. Perhaps the real human skeleton at the entrance. Great smoked prime rib and shepherds pie as well. There is also an item on the menu that 's rather cool... $0.18 Senate Bean Soup. Amazing.

Contrary to what you read on this website, this local non-chain restaurant is an awesome must visit, when in Pensacola. The beef is USDA prime and the seafood is likewise high quality. Salads are chock full of great ingredients. Unlike your typical Irish pub, these guys have a terrific wine list. If you are looking for pub grub you can get it here, but there is so much more.
