Koja Kitchen, Alameda — what happened?! I used to work nearby and came to this location at grand opening at it was fab! I live closer to a different location now and still love the food but this location has tanked in years gone by There was a long list of “sold out” items, but those signs looked pretty worn, how long have these items been unavailable? The fountain machine is exclusively water, and the taped over options is unsightly. Service was pretty mediocre, with cashier seated on their phone when I walked in. Plus, the restaurant was dirty! Tons of visible grime in the open kitchen, spill stains on trash cans, walls and ceiling, multiple employees on their phones with gloves on. I was...

Finally got a chance to try out Koja Kitchen! We were running some errands nearby when I suddenly got hungry and spotted the Koja Kitchen. It was a Wed afternoon around 4:30 and the whole place was empty.I ordered the original short rib koja $10.99) without aioli, as I 'm not a fan of mayo-based sauces. Overall I thought it was pretty good, though some of the short rib pieces felt a bit dry. The rice patties were nice and crispy and paired well with the flavorful short rib.The koja didn 't look that big sitting in the box, but as I started eating it, I quickly realized it was bigger than it looked. I managed to finish it but was surprisingly full afterwards.
I ordered a chicken bowl that looked visually appealing with vibrant colors. However, the food was served at room temperature and lacked flavor, overwhelmed only by spiciness. The rice was poorly cooked—undercooked and too watery. Overall, I was disappointed with my experience and won’t be returning. I would rate the food 1 out of 5 stars.
I’ve been a fan of Koja Kitchen for six years, but the quality has been declining for some time. Now, the food is almost inedible, and I won’t be returning. The rice buns are over-fried, the beef is overcooked, tough, and gristly, and the pork is excessively salty, leaving you feeling unwell afterward. Book a table now
KOREAN JAPANESE ! This combo works so well!! The flavors are actually amazing!!!Service is great and impeccable!I ordered the SHORT RIB BOWL came with rice and greens ! And also has the KAMIKAZE FRIES! These are so bad but so good! If you know you know!Highly recommend!
The biggest issue was the food poisoning I got from the short rib burger. Even aside from that, the overall food quality was disappointing. The restaurant seemed poorly stocked and not well-maintained. The only positive was the waffle fries. I won’t be coming back.
Me and a friend go here regularly because the food is always good. Kid-friendliness: Very kid friendly. Wheelchair accessibility: Yes. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $10–20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4 Parking space: Plenty of parking
Wasn't bad. I had a nice tofu thing with rice and pineapple. Flavor was great. There wasn't a single customer eating in at 6:30 pm on a Saturday evening. Restroom left a lot to be desired. Paper towels all over the floor and toilet to dirty for me to use it. Book a table now
The food was average. It didn't have a really distinct taste to it. A little too oily and rice was dry. The presentation was nice though. Friendly service.
