I almost left to go across the street to ValueMart, where the staff is always so friendly. However, I needed something specific from Kroger, so I decided to stay. Fortunately, when I reached the meat counter, I found they were out of the advertised special on pork chops that I wanted. I approached a woman in a white coat named "Victor"—it turned out she was dressing as the meat department manager for Halloween. Even though she couldn't help me directly, she went out of her way to find another meat department worker who could bring out more of the specially packaged chops. The meat looked fantastic, and the produce and deli items were fresh, making my mouth water.
