Came here as a special Christmas present/Friday night date with my husband, who made reservations in advance. We’d heard good things and rarely get the chance to go out since he works in the restaurant industry and I work in retail management, so this was an occasion we were very excited about. We weren’t greeted but walked to the host stand where we were stared at by a blonde waitress with a ratty Fleet Farm hoodie and sparse leggings underneath, who pointed to our table from across the room rather than leading us to it. She was sullen throughout our experience, to a point where I genuinely wondered whether she ought to go home or find a new industry. When taking our order, she asked “what...

It's winter, and despite sitting in the table right in front of the door we were quite comfortable thanks to the curtain they have set up. Street parking wasn't hard on this early Thursday dinner out with my 14yo who wanted ramen. We were fortunate to arrive during happy hour and the veggie trio (pictured was fantastic. I enjoyed a few other dishes as well as the nigori sake. The seabass oshizushi (pressed sushi, pictured really stood out as a unique but traditional item I haven't seen yet at other local sushi places. My kid reports the ramen as 10/10, mentioning the melt-in-your-mouth pork it contained. The broth was richly flavored (roasty almost? but light, not the super-thick tonkotsu you...

Can't say enough good things about this place. If you've been looking for a proper Izakaya in Minneapolis this is where you need to go. Their seafood, which is sustainably sourced and very clearly of high quality, is prepared so well, from their fresh sushi to their marinated and grilled flying squid. And then there's the matter of their cocktails, which is to say they're awesome. We had the whole gamut, from a sparkling-jungle-bird inspired happy hour drink to their sesame-fat-washed old fashioned, and I still can't pick a favorite. Oh, and Ben (the bar manager) clearly loves what he does and is happy to go in depth on how he came up with his drinks. This place celebrates craft with every a...

My partner and I recently dined at this restaurant. The menu had clearly labeled vegan options, but the "vegan" small plate included non-vegan Japanese mayo. The staff was accommodating and made a correction when we brought it to their attention. We ordered the tofu agadashi, chef's vegetarian platter, and ramen. While the dishes were satisfactory, they were a bit bland. Despite the high prices, the service was excellent and we appreciated the variety of choices available. Overall, it's a decent spot for vegans, but improved clarity on ingredients and more flavor would enhance the experience. Book a table now
