This was the best meal of our two weeks in the southern Rhône which revolved around fine food and wine. Please note that although they have truffle themed very expensive tasting menus we had an outstanding three course set menu of the day for 25 euros. The starter was a flan with asparagus sauce that was superb. It was followed by delicious veal stew and a wonderful almond torte. The cellar is very extensive with lots of old bottles but there were several quality wines by the glass as well instead of the usual choice between a bottle or poor quality bar wine. Michelin is so frustrating. We use it in conjunction w this site and other review sites as well as blogs and mags in an effort to dine rewardingly while traveling. On what planet does this place not get stars. Of course we did the truffle menu so we may have a skewed view but in all our years of truffle eating nothing has touched the simple yet perfectly performed dishes upon which the generous portions of black truffle are allowed to shine in all their brilliance. Couple that with the legendary wine cellar and you have enogastronirvana. Sure its rustic setting not dainty enough for the 3 star formula but 1 easily; 2 in my book. This restaurant specializes in truffles. This is the first time I have seen a restaurant offering menus from € 20 for your cheapest to € 250 for the most expensive. The wines are a chapter for themselves starting with wine per glass 9g half bottles for 17 € for the most expensive for several thousand €. the service was wonderfully professional. the room cozy with fire in the fireplace. the chef came in and showed the warehouse of truffles in a large container. There were about 30 large truffles the size of a tennis ball. so the chef was proud.
L'endroit est parfais pour manger dans le calme. Tout est parfaitement préparé et le service est impeccable. La carte des vins extraordinaire. Ce n'est pas pour toutes les bourses, mais nous essayons de faire l'effort financier occasionnellement pour nous faire plaisir. Il est clair que si j'en avais les moyens j'irai au moins 1fois par semaine. Le menu change au grés des arrivages de produits frais. A chaque fois c'est la surprise, la bonne surprise.
