After having a great and successful week at the International Dental Show in Cologne we decided to treat ourselves to a good steak. We went to the Casona Steakhouse very tired and hungry on the last day of our stay in Cologne. We did not get any attention or service for an hour straight. The server gave us german menus although we requested english ones. After an hour the server came and got our order. After another twenty minutes we got our drinks and a little bit of bread. I'd earmarked a few places that we might eat in Cologne during our visit, but realising that an Irish bar might not be a good idea when Northern Ireland were playing their first match in the Euros we decided to head of to Steakhaus La Casona. Early on a Sunday evening it was quiet and just what we wanted.The staff were very friendly and helped me with my lame attempts at communicating in German.The steaks were as good as any we have tasted and I'm regretting that we won't be staying in Cologne for another night as I would go straight back there again. Gastronomie wie man es sich wünscht, sauber, gepflegt, freundlich und soooo lecker. Wir waren zu dritt ohne Reservierung bei Sonnenschein an einem Sonntag in der Ferienzeit. Bedienung war unsagbar freundlich und zuvorkommend, selbst ein platz auf der Terrasse war möglich. Die offene und Herzliche Art hat uns allen sehr gefallen. Dann das Essen war nicht nur toll angerichtet auch noch unfassbar lecker. Das Steak war perfekt die Beilagen alle frisch der Salat war toll hergerichtet, Kräuterbutter, Aioli und soßen waren selber zubereitet und Mega lecker. We had a reservation for 4, and even though we were at the restaurant on time we were left waiting at the bar for almost an hour while other people that kept coming after us were seated. At one point they even split a table...of 6 to seat 2 groups of people: one of 3 and one of 2, both groups arrived after us. In the end we left somewhere else. Complete lack of customer service. Never again.

Ordered the 300 g filet of tenderloin steak cooked medium, along with a baked potato, and bacon wrapped green beans. Not a single fault with any of these choices. Steak was cooked just right, and it's a big piece of meat. The green beans were fantastic, that's an item I'll try at home. Bottom line: Texan approved!
Came 14 people in connection with a show in town. Nice menu and food is tasteful. Presentation and quality of the served food is high. Service a little confused but everyone got what they ordered. We will come back.

Leider leider nicht mehr die Qualität früherer Tage. Sehr schade, war das Personal wieder sehr freundlich, aber die besten Steaks gibt es leider nicht mehr hier!
