Despite contacting them in advance and telling them we are vegetarian and being assured they would create a menu for us, when we arrived they seemed surprised that we were vegetarian. We were seated in a booth with a lamp above it. The lamp had cobwebs above the lampshade and inside it. Really? You can’t ensure your dining room is cleaned and well maintained? The maitre d’ wanted us to “choose” our dishes upfront for all courses but offered us little choice. A glass of rather flat rosé champagne started the evening to accompany the hastily made canapés. Chose this for its quiet beautiful location, which didn't disappoint, they have an enormous outdoor structure with heaters and we were outside despite the rain. Young inexperienced staff but maitre de spoke English. However the menus are in French with lots of set menu choices as well as a la carte, it became confusing, we chose the cote du boeuf for 2 which came with a tray of sauces which were not described (mustard and 2 others, no idea) but really the meat deserved a delicious jus. I agree that the Dune Aux loups is on the expensive side but then again it does represent good value for money . The setting is fantastic in the forest area with a lovely garden in which to eat as well as a well set out dining room . The food is very good without being too complicated , top quality ingredients very well put together Wine list is also extensive and priced at something for every one The quality of a restaurant is best judged by whether you would go back or not We have been many times and hope to do so again in the future
This restaurant is in a beautiful settings the staff were excellent the maitre d’ is fabulous and also speaks English the food was first class I had a medium rare steak and the boss i.e. Ruth had seabass The whole evening was superb I would highly recommend this restaurant to anybody
