La Foret - Table reservation

we ate a Sunday november evening and there were only 4 or 5 tables in a restaurant with space for many more and we were all spaced apart from each other. the service was warm and attentive, but the menu was also. something too extensive for such a quiet time of the year. there were 4 of us on the party, and we all had something else. the entrances were very impressive and enormous. the following courses were somewhat more modest in proportions, grateful, but also less impressive in quality and presentation. Yes the restaurant seems somewhat dated with its large open dinning room but that appears to be part of its charm. Our large party had a very enjoyable evening meal here even if the amount of food was a little overwhelming. We started with canapés...which were a meal in their own right. Followed by charcuterie surmounted by garlic bread and melted cheese, I began to flag. The main meat dish was succulent and tasty but I don't remember a great deal due to the amount of the previous courses and the freely flowing house red. I have had many excellent meals at this restaurant until last week when I took friends for their 46th anniversary meal and the food was, overall, disastrous. I chose veal which was overcooked and tough and dry and the accompanying potatoes were dry and...hard indicating that the meal had been kept warm under heat. Another meal of duck and chicken breast was dried out also.My fish soup starter was also dried out as far as the clams and mussels alongside were concerned. None of the four meals was up to the expected and former standard. Upon pointing this out to the gentleman who appeared to be in charge, I received only a cursory response. As a result, I am unable to recommend this restaurant...

here midst september as a group of caravans in le bois maisson in st. augustine the meal was amazing, service excellent and worth for money was great. the restaurant is known by the locals and it shows how there were a few couples. weinkarte was good and as a party we were served home wine that was excellent.....a very nice experience.

I am already a few paintings in the la foret in the run of the years, and had always a good meal, a good choice of the wine, best book them first in the high season
