While hiking the Danube path, we were staying at the restaurant's hotel, the very nice Weisses Lamm, Being too tired to go far, decided on dinner at Pizzaria Venezia. Big mistake but we can only blame ourselves since we know better than to try a place that bills itself as being Italian/Greek/Mexican. My husband ordered spaghetti aglio, olio, peperoncino. What arrived was a plate of grossly overcook pasta drowning in poor quality oil of indeterminate type. The garlic was properly cooked -- not too much; not too little -- but instead of dried red chili peppers, who ever was in the kitchen used green chilis bottled in vinegar. Strangest of all, the fistful of black Greek olives on top of it all...

On a tour of the Abbey we had a relatively short period to free time for lunch and wanted to see the Old Town. We took the 5 minute walk from the Abbey and found some of the local people walking with food from the Pizzeria. We tried the Kebap and it was very good, loaded with vegetables and rolled in a thin wrapper that was toasted in the pizza ovens. It was a very nice alternative to sweets or a much heavier meal. There is seating available inside. The staff is very friendly.

This place is up the main street on the way to the Abbey. The English is limited here, so know your pizza toppings translations or be surprised. :D I forgot which pizza we ordered, but I preferred it over my basic American pizza. The crust was thinner and just better than what I've had at home and the flavor of the cheese was different in a good way. The toppings were all fresh and the price was right. Nothing fancy, but affordable and good.
