Visited La Jaiba recently on a Friday during Lent and was afraid that food quality and service would suffer due to the demand and rush but I was pleasantly surprised. We were seated rather quickly and placed our orders. We had a Fried Fish Platter, a Fried Fish/Shrimp Combo and an order of Rafafa (Mexican style Shrimp Salad). Everything was delicious especially the fried fish fillets. They were cooked perfectly. The Rafafa tasted slightly different from the ones I've had at other restaurants (in a good way) I thought it had a touch of worchestire sauce but I may be mistaken. I enjoyed it. Despite the Friday Lent crowd the service was on point. Our orders were taken quickly, the food surprisi...

We went to go to another spot on a Friday evening but decided to walk out due to being completely ignored…and on our way to the car we were drawn into La Jaiba by the awesome live music that we could hear from outside. It just drew us in. We were immediately greeted by super friendly people who sat us. They we’re having happy hour until 7 so we tried their margaritas. Very delicious!!! And their appetizers were great. I especially loved the empanadas. Good atmosphere. Good food. Good service drinks and music. It was a great impromptu stop. So glad we stopped in. We will be back.
Delicious food, pleasant live music, and lovely staff. My 9 year old ate so much he felt all ‘sloshy’ and he said, very loudly at the table that I had to write a review for the food and the service. ‘Five Stars!’ He shouted I’m just following orders. Regarding the live musician in the other room — he whispered as we walked out ‘’Mom, that man is really playing and singing at the same time!”
On May 19, 2023, I took my parents to LA Jaiba, a Mexican seafood restaurant. My parents were in the mood for seafood, while I was craving fajitas. The restaurant was clean and pleasant, and our server, Dinorah, who had vibrant red hair, was both attentive and entertaining. The food was absolutely delicious, and I honestly have nothing negative to report. They even have a lovely patio! Book a table now
Fantastic food! They don't overdo the fajita meat with onions and green peppers. Instead, they caramelize the onions, which tastes so much better. The avocado on top was wonderful as well. The soup was lovely, but a deeper spoon would be helpful to avoid tiring yourself out while trying to enjoy the broth.
This is by far the best place for fish and seafood that I have encountered in the Rio Grande Valley. The fish with no name sauce is absolutely delicious, and the Classic Tacos have set such a high standard that I can't enjoy other fish places anymore. I've never had a disappointing experience here.
The food was enjoyable overall. The crab bombs appetizer was excellent. However, the service was a bit slow. The caldo de marisco was good, and the ambiance was pleasant. The pescado veracruz was fantastic! Nonetheless, it was featured as the special of the day...
The food is excellent, with a wide variety of options available. The waitstaff is attentive and very helpful. The music is played at a perfect volume for conversation. Book a table now
This is our first and last time dining at this restaurant. The food is delicious, but they offer lunch specials on Mondays, like the Veracruz fish for just $9.99!
So the food is amazing but I gotta be honest if you're going to have food items at least make the seats more comfortable and the environment more relaxing
