"The atmosphere is calm, romantic and the dog of the house really brings out the countryside ambiance! The retour de chasse is my all time favorite. Will continue going on a regular basis. The service is excellent!"

La Lorraine is a restaurant i used to frequent very often, at least once a month! I was absolutely in love with this place! Having been away for about months, i promptly returned to my absolute favorite restaurant. I had heard that the son...had taken over after his father retired. That said, i was quite surprised that the La Lorraine no longer offered an “a la carte” menu. They now only offered plates (escargot, cochon de lait, grenouilles) aka snails, suckling pig frogs legs, plus “gourmet surprise menus. The surprise menus start at euros, the is euros and the is euros. I’m okay withi surprises but not when it comes to food at any restaurant. This “meal” was not what i expected at all at t...

.. but no capitaines, just a fierce-looking patronne with whom fortunately we didn't have much to do. Large airy room. extending to a conservatory, with view over the garden in which a basset hound mooched hungrily. A weekday lunch no sign of expense accounts,...just a couple of other tables there for the food. And wine: the lunch menu at EUR offered accompanying wines for a further EUR well-chosen good value: Two young waiters, competent agreeable, who explained the dishes to us. First., a round of amuse-bouches : asparagus in tiny bags tarte flambée revisitée par le chef love those revisits crème au celeris.. A set menu offered carpaccio au thon with sorbet à la moutarde those pudding harb...

The restaurant is not too far away from the motorway, and relatively easy accessible. With current weather conditions the garden is excellent to sit outside for lunch. I ordered the course gourmand' menu. It was a nice mix of different dishes, very well prepared....Especially the lamb in the fig leaf was surprising and of superior quality. Wine list is ok, with several local wines. The place is worth going to to enjoy the garden and enjoy great food. Definitely worth stopping when travelling.

We ate in this restaurant some of the finest food we ever tasted. The escargots, the langoustines, the meat were all great. Three small extra biddings were just perfect. The courage to serve crême brulee based on foie gras was well admired by us. Just...spectacular!
