Stunning little place quite unique combining antique shop tea room a very antique trophy chandellier stuffed dinning room and charming garden.. in all rather camp and astonishingly Parisian right bang in the middle of Normandy. If you could sit by a fire in winter with...your feet up reading Paris Match being served tea surrounded by lots of interesting antiques then this is the place to do it! We opted to sit in the more opulent dinning room with its opulent vaulted ceiling chandelliers and a picture gallery of pirtraits in gilt frames looking down on the splendid antique tables and chairs. You could be in a gay rather over the top front room or an artists exhition in the Faubourg st Honore...
This restaurant and tea room is in the centre of a historic and charming small village in good walking area. We came for dinner in mid September. In this somewhat traditional part of Normandie, menus can be full of delicious but very high cholesterol food...and Maison d'Horbe was no exception. We chose to avoid the Foies Gras etc. One of the starters, a terrine of asparagus was very wet and seemed to have been made with tinned asparagus. We both chose Paupiettes of Veau for our main course which appeared to have been reheated. Not at all pleasant. The service was a little rough and it took us some time to attract attention to pay the bill. Not an experience we would choose to repeat.
Des que l'on pénètre dans la cour on entend l'agréable "glouglou" de la fontaine et l'on est tout de suite charmé par la délicatesse de la décoration de la terrasse, de suite l'on ressent une certaine sérénité. Ensuite on pousse la porte de la petite boutique, des objets, de la vaisselle, des confitures faites maison et de très bonnes odeurs se dégagent et traduisent un savoir culinaire.Tous les mets sont délicieux ce sont d'excellents produits, cuisinés avec respect, les assiettes sont belles et très bonnes.Le service est très sympathique, discret et professionnel.Un GRAND MERCI à Laurent.
I can honestly say that in the 8 years that I have been living in France, I have never come across anything like this fabulous place. Overflowing with antiques, there is charm in every corner. Tea served in a silver teapot was just as expected...and we loved the ambiance....it is not everyday you get to have tea surrounded by fabulous antiques and lovely decorative objects for the maison. Wish that we would have tried the lovely looking cakes but we were full from the three course lunch that we had eaten prior to stopping.....we will be back but just wish that we lived closer :

Whether it's a cake and tea, lunch or dinner either inside the charming rooms or outside in the courtyard , with it's tinkling fountain, under the ancient wisteria you will have an amazing dining experience. The food was cooked to perfection . Home cooked pickles,jams...and preserves can be bought in the shop. The decor is a combination of vintage item's for sale and classic furniture. This lovely restaurant is in a small traditional hill top French village and well worth a detour off the main road. Rooms are available for bed and breakfasts.
Ce restaurant est situé dans un petit village sympathique. L'aspect extérieur donne le ton immédiatement avec cette belle bâtisse en pierre et son grand portail. Cour fleurie avec fontaine et intérieur décoré avec goût. Les plats sont très bons et bien garnis mais avec une présentation sommaire et déjà vu. Conclusion cadre parfait mais cuisine simple.
Ah Martin un personnage qui fait toute l'âme de son restaurant. Il peut choquer certains et pourtant je n'ai jamais vu une ambiance entre les clients comme ça. Table simple avec de bons produits. Adresse à recommander vivement quand on est dans la région. Ah bientôt Martin nous reviendrons avec des amis!
Un cadre très agréable où les objets anciens et les curiosités côtoient une cuisine de qualité. L accueil y est chaleureux et malgré quelques oublis pendant le service ( vite compensé par une petite douceur offerte aux enfants) nous avons passé un excellent dîner.

Nous avons testé l'adresse à deux reprises et à chaque fois un bel enchantement ! Le décor est on ne peut plus original, l'accueil chaleureux, les plats savoureux....le foie gras, le confit de canard sont des enchantements !
