Lots of good microbreweries in Sherbrooke, which is great, but sometimes the shadows of the big ones hide a little gem! It is the case with La Mare. I've been there quantity of times and the place is great. Well located on King ouest Street, you might have one of the best terrasse view in Sherbrooke if you sit in front. The inside is cozy, with a great chilled out ambiance. Great to have a pint and a scotch by the fire place! To me, the best thing there is the competence of the staff. As a beer and Single Malt lover, I had some really good suggestions there, at very reasonable prices (lower than average) and I made some great finds for my personal selection. This is a microbrewery. The beer is really excellent (you should try the Abenakis. It is a dark beer and I normally hate that kind of beer but now it's my favorite! The owner, Christophe, comes from Europe and always has stories to share. He is really welcoming and interesting to talk to. And so is the rest of the staff. You also have to try the flam's! Miam. Just delicious. It is a great place to take a beer with friends or with your s/o. You can also play board games because there are some available for free !
We ate here while on a business trip. I am a vegetarian, so I was worried I wouldn't find anything substantial to eat in a pub, but there were several options on the menu. I had a big bowl of roast potatoes and veggies, baked in a creamy curry sauce. After a chilly walk from the hotel, it was exactly what I wanted! I am not a fan of heavy, dark beers, so I had the L'eden. It was light and tasted of orange and spices, yummy. I would definately eat here again.
