Having been in France for a fortnight and having encountered too many traditional restaurants serving duck in the only two ways it comes, this restaurant was a revelation.We had the fish terrain and the porc with fraise sauce which sounds odd but was excellent, puddings rice with salted caramel sauce and ice cream with melon. A decent reasonable priced White Saumur wine to complete our meal.The welcome was lovely and the service and cooking excellent. There were interesting grille options where you cooked your meat yourself at the table, this was very popular.Point to note to other French restaurants customers turning up just before 9pm were not turned away!!!! We visited here a week ago on a Friday evening. We sat outside as we had dogs with us which was no problem for the restaurant. Staff spoke good English but also entertained my attempts at ordering in French. Food was excellent. All 3 courses very good. Price very reasonable as well. 3 courses from set menu and wine came to 46E for 2 of us. Would definitely visit again.
Enjoyed a wonderful three course lunch with wine for €12.50. Very, friendly and full of local workers having lunch - always a good sign. We enjoyed every course but especially the apricot clafoutis. In fact, the food was much better (and three times cheaper) than a Michelin recommended restaurant we tried!
Having read previous reviews we ate here on a Saturday night. The set menu was interesting , delicious and very good value. None of our group of six was disappointed. The service was friendly and timings perfect. We were surprised that it was not busier, definitely worth the short walk over the bridge.

I ate on Saturday evening and it was wonderful. Madame (husband is the chef) was great and welcoming. Delicious local wines. I had a salmon terrine starter and a lovely steak cooked just right with vegs and potato. Creme caramel for dessert finished it off. VERY reasonable and as I said, delicious.
We had a wonderful meal here on a Monday evening in June. Food was perfect. Wine (local) was superb. We were the only evening diners though it was busy at lunchtime. It really should be overbooked. Husband cooks and wife 'mans' the restaurant. Friendly and tremendously good value.
We had a really enjoyable evening meal at this restaurant. The food was excellent, especially the goat's cheese mousse, and the service was very friendly. Our waitress who was possibly the owner, made an effort to speak with us and share a joke. Great value and highly recommended.
Popped in while walking to Saumur centre from Ibis Styles. Old fashioned proper cooking done extremely well for €20 for 3 courses and wine at €5 for 50cl pichet which was light and fresh. Lovely people as well.

Had lunch here, all the food was delicious and home made. Had carrot salad to start then cod with a topping of courgettes and cheese followed by a homemade dessert.
Very attentive and appropriate service. Meal was outstanding and inexpensive. Altogether a very pleasant experience. Thoroughly recommended.
