There is no shortage of bars and restaurants in St. Omer but it's always good to see new ventures opening up. The owner told me that La Taverne opened in May this year and it should be, with any luck, a very successful business.Beautifully fitted out and nicely decorated with a good choice of draught beers. We can highly recommend the Liefmans and the Goudale, shame we only discovered this place on our return to our hotel after visiting other bars. Lovely staff, lively and friendly, a fantastic addition to the main square area.

We arrived in the afternoon after the normal lunch time but the waitress checked with the kitchen and were willing to serve us.We ate from the menu of the day, a three course meal for 13.40€. Outstanding value, the meal for four including wine and coffee for less than 80€. The food was great, good portion size and served quickly.I wish I could eat like this every day.I highly recommend here for a good lunch.

We only stopped in for a drink but really liked it and would go back - the snacks being served to other tables looked very tasty but we were going out for dinner so didn't eat there. We tried two local beers and some wine. The beers were excellent, from small brewers it seemed, and the wine good.It is obviously a popular spot; great atmosphere and decor, and overall well worth a visit.

Never eaten there but have popped in for coffee in the day and drinks at night. Its a very casual place with good local atmosphere. Drinks are the right price for that area and the staff were friendly.
