We had a three course gastronomic dinner. Foie gras was plain, with gingerbread and an apple chutney. The gingerbread was bland, and somewhat mushy. The chutney was in fact an apple sauce, with some chunks in it. Main course was a chicken with morels. We received two rather small chicken legs, with 2 morels (and I mean this literally!!! The sauce was watery, and frankly, the portion was minuscule! To be honest, we felt ripped off by the small number of morels. Dessert was ok, with a strawberry shake, chocolate mousse and a sherbet. It's a little tricky to find, but once there the setting is a lovely courtyard garden. The service is typically French in that that assume that once you are seated, you are there for the evening and that is the way we spent our evening; talking, drinking a good bottle of red wine at a reasonable restaurant price, and having one of the best dinners that we experienced during our month in the country. Beautiful setting, but that is what you pay for. The food was disappointing. The €18.50 ardoise menu was only 2 courses, and the next menu available was €35 a huge jump which we could not justify. Both the courses we had were tasty but small in quantity and there were disappointingly no vegetables at all (not even a lettuce leaf or tomato! . If we had opted for a sweet (at extra charge then there was only a choice of creme caramel or chocolate mousse, so hardly exciting.
