We stayed at the hotel as part of our TMB hike and dinner and breakfast here was included in the fee we paid. Dinner here was the worst we had of all the meals we had doing the TMB. No options were offered like at the other hotels we stayed at along the TMB. Dinner was an odd salad bar with diced veggies. The main course was a small fish bowl of tiny diced pasta in a watery cream sauce with diced bacon and some melted cheese slices. We had a super hard hike this day and would have preferred a protein option. They seem to be focused on controlling costs, but I would have happily paid an upgrade fee for a real meal. Breakfast was a continental style pastries, breads along with scrambled eggs,...

Here with a hiking tour group, the hotel seems to cater to them. At dinner they pushed a special that is a local dish of pasta, cheese and bacon. I instead choose shrimp flamed in whiskey with black squid ink pasta. The dish looked great as it was presented. The shrimp lacked any flavor. Nothing from however it was cooked transfered to the shrimp. The pasta was thick and flavorless. Had any type of sauce been added to the meal it might have saved it from just being a weight in my stomach for most of the night. The local dish did not appear too appetizing either. Fairly heavy and dense. Not a very satisfying dinner. Breakfast the next morning was delicious but too many hikers all trying to le...

I stayed at the Chemenaz for three nights and had the opportunity to have two meals at La Trabla. Firstly, the dining room is lovely - a rustic setting with a modern spin and a fantastic fireplace in the center of the dining area. Must also say that the service is excellent.I had two dishes - one a savoyard speciality which was a tartiflette - they do have lovely fondue and raclette if you are part of a larger group. It was excellent. However, I did have a fish dish that, while seasoned nicely, was dry and overdone. Probably best to stick with the local dishes. The local gamay and beer were also quite nice.

I was very pleased with the La Trabla restaurant at the Hotel La Chemenaz. Located in the hotel's ground floor, the restaurant was very convenient to two tired travelers. The decor is cofortable and casual, but very welcoming. I can't remember whatI ordered that evening, but I do remember that I was happy with my selection and that I found the meal very tasty. Service was excellent and the prices were reasonable. I'd recommend the La Trable for dining anytime you are in the area even if not staying at the Hotel La Chemenaz.

Lovely design, cozy next to the fire place, a delight to the eyes. That's how far it goes. The rest is poor, poor, poor and expensive. Pretentious local food that is badly executed with small portions and very expensive. Service follows the same pattern. Shame because the place has potential. To the owners: stop living in the 70s!
