We mistakenly booked Au Comestible thinking the very reasonable formula would be available on a Saturday night, and as we are eating out with 5 children the 65 euro tag on the La Tupina formula was out of our league. Alas, although there is no warning on au comestible website, Saturday night = no formula and the standard La Tupina menu. Ekkk!!! Although we skipped entree and went straight to main, the lovely staff kept bringing the little plates of apero snacks - fresh radish and cherry tomato, dried sausage slices and cubes of rillettes and lots of bread which meant no one was hungry. My partner, one son and I shared the huge beef cut and it was delicious - worth the money. Others had magre...

The food here is truly excellent; we thoroughly enjoyed our perfectly prepared duck and lamb with haricot beans. Our locally born friend, who had never eaten at La Tupina before, was impressed, proclaiming that it offered a true insight into the traditional domestic cuisine of her region. Rather to our surprise, we also thought it represented excellent value for a restaurant of this fame, at around €50 per head. Clearly, however, this could easily climb precipitously if you were to investigate some of the pricier bottles on the impressive wine list.Caveats? Well, there were very few smiles in evidence from the two young staff who were serving us. Perhaps, however, this was due to the fact th...
Like many other reviewers we visited this restaurant after seeing it on Rick Stein's Long Weekends, but I was a bit wary after reading some of the reviews. However, my fears were unfounded. The dinner was lovely and service was fantastic - they were happy to let us sit and mull over our wine between courses and brought out a dessert plate to celebrate our anniversary. A really lovely evening, with good quality ingredients cooked expertly in an open fire in the middle of the restaurant. It's not cheap, but worth every penny in my opinion. Book a table now
We too saw Rick Stein show this restaurant on his TV programme about Bordeaux and thought it looked fun.The rooms he stayed in are opposite the restaurant. It is a bit out of central Bordeaux and a number of people arrived by taxi although we got a tram to Porte de la Monnaie. We booked and got there early.at 7pm when it opened. It became very busy.We had a starter and then the meat. Althjough they have fish on the menu it is really a meat restaurant. We enjoyed our visit very much.
My family and I visited La Tupina for lunch, and we had a wonderful time. The food was delicious and the staff was friendly - I would definitely recommend it! Book a table now
