After having visited La Garde Adhemar which is an adorable village/town we stopped for lunch at L'absinthe.We had the choice between outside or inside and since it was quite a windy day and that I was with my 92 year old mother we chose inside.It took a while to get 5 people the decide what to eat, most of us changing our minds several times as we would have liked to eat the lot...We settled on charcuterie and salads for starters. Very very good. La Garde Adhemar is a very special place 2 hours south of Lyon.The restaurant is in an old castle on top of a hill that has great views over the surrounding country. With GPS, it was easy to find. The little village was great with 3 eating options plus a general store for daily provisions. The people in general were friendly and helpful. It was only 10 minutes into Pierre Latte if you want to go to the markets on Friday. My wife had a fish (sea Bass) which was a whole fish with pasta and was very good. I had the confit of duck which was also very goodPrices were mid range. Service was good and friendly, and there was always someone around that spoke English
On a rather blustery early fall day, I very much enjoyed the seasonally appropriate rabbit casserole and rather garlicky mashed potatoes. My husband and son gave great reviews to the Dorado and a Pesto Pasta. The ambience was quintessential French countryside coolness - and the hillside town was perfect for a postprandial stroll before heading back on the road..
we had a terrific lunch on the terrace of this café. Service was great and friendly, beautiful location. We had the rabbit kebab and the lemon chicken kebab, both were outstanding, and their dessert was also wonderful.
