I dined here on many of my fieldwork visits to Concarneau while writing my book: Researching Literary Tourism. After a visit to L'Amiral, 1 Avenue Pierre Gueguin, Concarneau, France with Paul, we decided to use his photograph of L'Amiral on the front cover of the book. The picture is taken from over on the ramparts of the Ville-Close. We were trying to cover the whole scene from the opening of Simenon's novel, The Yellow Dog, Le Chien jaune. Try the oyster as a starter, and, if they still offer this, the Simenon menu. If you are reading the detective novel whilst you are in this fishing and seaside town do let me know and share your thoughts... you can find me as staff on University of Plymo...
