We went to Lan Yuan over eight months ago and were very disappointed. At the urging of friends we recently went again. Unfortunately the food has not improved during that period and still tastes and looks like it has been pre cooked. Our duck spring rolls were served within a couple of minutes of being ordered and were so hot (as in temperature) that you could not eat them. To get them this hot, were they microwaved? Obviously, the heat destroyed any flavour. The other dishes we had were average.
Fabulous food, friendly & very attentive staff only too willing to please; lovely modern décor with relaxing interesting ambience - importantly very comfortable chairs! Attractive traditional style crockery (blue on white), complimentary iced water & cleansing refresher towels Plenty of parking at St Ives restaurant & flat-going very easy disabled access from open-air car park at door; air-conditioned; great birthday/other party venue; yum cha & lunch specials menu too. Highly recommend to all!
Decided to try this local St Ives Chinese restaurant. It's been around for about 6 months situated at the top car park of St Ives shopping village next to the NAB.We were so surprised when we walked inside, it was much larger than it looks from outside.The menu is very good and the food we had was excellent . We had the sweat and sour barramundi, served deboned. Peking duck pan cakes vegetarian spring rolls. Really enjoyed it and will make this our local chinese going forward.
We recently came here for Yum Cha. The dumplings were delicious and the owner suggested some extra dishes which were indeed well chosen. The owner was extremely charming and friendly and was only too happy to chat and give suggestions on dishes. The waitresses were also very friendly. I would certainly go back for another yum cha or perhaps dinner next time. I'm glad we now have a good yum cha restaurant in St Ives.

Been here for several months-almost packed out on a Friday night- several large tables of Asian families with uncontrolled children.Waitress stood over us while I looked over Wine list-had previously noted that BYO surcharge @ $4.50 per glass.Menu all over place-not well set out. We tried 2 appetizers and 2 mains. Average food at dear cost compared to other Asian restaurants.May go back but doubt it!
It is great that we now have a consistently excellent Chinese restaurant in St Ives. We have eaten in a few times, and have always found the staff to be very friendly, polite and they provide great customer service. We also get takeout fairly regularly, again the food is consistently very good, fresh and hot. Definitely recommend Lan Yuan, we are very happy with it.
Wow! First time at the restaurant, just delicious! We had some excellent dishes - Peking duck, soft shell crab, Singapore prawns, Chinese broccoli, lamb cutlets... All dishes with great flavours!The service was excellent with friendly staff and the prices very reasonable. Will definitely go back!
Been at Lan Yuan twice for lunch and found the standard for Yum Cha dishes is excellent, especially the desert. They have a semi open kitchen and can view how the chefs prepare your dishes. Service is good and will come back to try out for dinner later. Highly recommended!

Dumplings here have always been very good. We have eaten here twice before, and the quality of the disces have always been of high standard. Servings are very generous too; on both occasions we had plenty left to take home. Above average suburban Chinese restaurant
Duck spring rolls were microwaved, dumplings were lacking flavour and main dishes were ok but certainly nothing of note Need to lift the game if they want return locals clientele
