L'Ardoise is a nice enough venue and while the food was reasonable there were a few touches that left me feeling hard to award it more than an average rating, so here's where I felt it let down: Two of our three for lunch had...the warm baked cheese with salad which was fine the third went for the unusual dish of poached egg with fois gras this definitely didn't work for me, the fois gras was barely noticeable and the egg only cooked on the surface and very watery uncooked underneath. Mains came two burgers and one duck with apricot sauce, which was OK and the duck nicely cooked. The burgers ordered medium were well done so pretty dry, the roblechon sheese was nice and the fries also cooked...
On a day trip to Meaux, my husband and I came across this lovely restaurant. We really enjoyed how welcome we felt immediately upon arrival and liked the ambiance of this restaurant as well. The menu is on a chalk board and so it was...shown to us promptly after we were seated. My husband chose a hamburger and I chose the fish special. The service was prompt and friendly and we both really enjoyed our meals. We even commented that it was one of our best meals on our trip to France. The prices were reasonable too. We feel very fortunate to have experienced a dining experience at L'Ardoise and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone visiting the Meaux area.
Un accueil sans aucune amabilité, nous avons été dirigé vers notre table sans un mot, sans un regard considérant. Le Spritz au soda nous posant question, nous avons demander la composition au serveur qui, d'un air moqueur nous a détaillé tout le contenu jusqu'à nous informer de la présence d'une paille et d'un verre. Devant tant de considération envers leurs clients, nous avons décidé de partir et avons même été accompagné à la porte sans chercher à nous retenir ou la raison du départ! A fuir !! Vivement le changement de propriétaire
Our tour bus stopped in the historic part of Meaux,France for a quick lunch after our visit to the World War I Museum. We were lucky to get to L'Ardoise quickly and were treated with a table outside and an excellent lunch on a comfortable July...day. I choose a special day. I couldn't find out what it was, but knew it was scallops. I thought they were fresh. The court was wonderful. The service was excellent with a server that bravely tried to speak English. It was a great start to our French WWI Tour.

This smart restaurant is located on the cathedral. We arrived at 12 without booking and a long time ago the tables were all, but completely taken. Many seemed to be regular. The selection of foods was good in the Prix Fixe menu and good value. The food we chose was really delicious and well presented. Service was good and unobtrusive. A place to return.
Ambiance très sympathique, j'ai adoré le moment passé au sein de cet établissement. Vue sur la cathédrale lors de notre dîner, magnifique. Petite carte proposée le soir mais on y trouve forcément son bonheur. Très bons produits proposés, et faits maison c'est vraiment le Très bon accueil, personnel agréable et disponible bref je ne peux que recommander
Nous sommes venus dans ce restaurant sur un coup de tête pour le déjeuner. Très bon accueil du patron, la carte est très bien et les plats bons. La qualité est là au point qu’on en voudrait un petit peu plus dans l’assiette. Peut-être un tout petit peu cher, concernant le rapport qualité-prix, mais bien.
Tellement déçue ! Service très très long, plats très quelconques : un œuf qui nage dans un bouillon tiède, du foie (cuisson parfaite) servi avec une purée tiède, des vins très chers...Et ne faites pas une remarque, le sourire disparait. Non, je ne recommande pas !

Nice meal. Great menu, very well executed. Would recommend. Would come back. Visits with family. Mi cuit a chocolat dessert was amazing.
Très bon repas, accueil parfait seul bémol il y avait une grande tablée qui était très bruyant rendant très compliqué les échanges.
