L'Auberge des Sources

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal at L’Auberge des Sources in pretty Chaintreauville – slightly off the beaten track but certainly worth the detour. Upon arrival we were warmly greeted by the congenial Anaïs who runs the Auberge with her talented chef husband Quentin. The food was divine – my filet de boeuf was cooked to perfection – succulent and delicious served in a morille sauce. My wife’s quasi de veau was exquisite, perfectly rosé and served in a mouth-watering gorgonzola sauce. For dessert the sumptuous moelleux au chocolat was sublime – highly recommended – while the crème brûlée in light of the other wonderful dishes was a little underwhelming. Fantastic artisan-made beer and excellent, good value for money dining in a clean, friendly ambience with efficient, pleasant staff. It is a pity that it is not open for longer, especially on summer evenings, when it is so enjoyable to sit out in the sunny but chestnut tree shaded courtyard. If overnight rooms were ever to be offered again that would be hugely convenient for local residents and visitors alike.

This is the most fantastic restaurant with not just amazing food which it does have but great atmosphere and the friendliest service we have ever had. I can not recommend this restaurant enough. We were staying nearby and our host recommended we go here and we were not disappointed.

Always delicious, preference is the Plat de Jour(entree and dessert). I come here every time I'm in the area, several times per year.
