It has taken me almost 24hrs to calm myself before I contact you. Yesterday I went to Kilhey court hotel for afternoon tea with a dear friend who has just completed months of chemotherapy , it was her first visit to anywhere. When booking the AT seeing the price of £45 I wrongly assumed this was for 'for 2 ' as are all AT 's I 've been to before . The champagne was flat , as it was the remaining, the waitress almost was draining the last remaining bits into our glasses. The AT was very poor , the sandwich filling was minimal , the bread slightly stale , the quantity was abismal..possibly 3 slices of bread at the most. The cakes were bite size, and again not good quality , the scones were dry...
The food was average, nicely cooked but nothing remarkable. The service was good. However, the presence of flies in the restaurant was unbearable. There were dead flies scattered everywhere and many flying around trying to escape through the windows. A fly zapper is definitely needed as it was disturbing while trying to enjoy a meal. The wine was overpriced for a mediocre bottle at £26. While £26 is not a high price for a nice bottle of wine, this bottle was cheap and left me feeling like I had been ripped off. It was not good value for money.
The restaurant had a beautiful atmosphere and the staff were friendly, however, the service became inattentive once we received our food. It was difficult to get a staff member's attention and no one checked on us to see if everything was satisfactory. It would have been nice to have a menu listing the available teas and herbal teas instead of just being asked if we wanted tea or coffee. The food overall was good.
Restaurant was empty took 30 minutes to be given stale sandwiches and some warm scones.i booked this believing it was £45 per couple when I came to pay the bill I nearly fell over when I was charged £90 for food that would cost around £8 maximum absolute daylight robbery left feeling hungry and extremely dissopointed

The restaurant has beautiful surroundings, attentive staff, excellent service, and the food was delicious. Although the lunch menu choices were a bit disappointing, everything ended up being tasty. I would definitely return for another meal.
We couldn’t fault the food, it was excellent value at £6.95 for 2 courses. The staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Lovely views from the restaurant overlooking the gardens. Will definitely return.
food average not much choice for big venue, only 3 deserts, service was slow snails pace, was quite looking forward to this night, but wont be rushing back, the only good thing was scenery around, disapointing.
I was so disappointed with the food more like a 2 star than 4 star. Soup was sent back as only warm, Sea Bass was good but potatoes not cooked, green vegetables cold even Sticky toffee pudding cold.

Was charged £30 per person when it clearly states that there was a 10% discount so should have been £27 and the afternoon tea really didn’t look like the pictures online ????
Went for lunch for my partners Birthday and thoroughly enjoyed it! It was reccomended by my sister in law who dines there often,
