stayed in avoriaz for a week and ate here every night , the food was too die for and in such a lovely setting , now the front of house team were some of the best i have seen ,relaxed but yet very professional and friendly , one night i read my watch wrong and turned up 30 mins before they open but no problem invited me in and glass of wine no problem . 10 out of 10 really . Now i am not the normal person to write on here to get something for free but i do believe with something is exceptional and they go beyond the normal then i will write a review , ps i have been a chef for 20 years and i have to say food very nice , customer service wow .
The service was extremely slow. Although the food was good, the bill wasn 't. We were charged for a beef fillet instead of the veal that we ordered. When we questioned it they argued with us that we 'ate it '. Then when we refused to pay they literally threw the bill at us. Extremely rude staff. So much so that we may reconsider staying at L 'amara again. Absolutely disgusted by the attitude when the French are normally so friendly.
The service was extremely poor. We had to ask for drinks after waiting for some time. Then they failed to bring 1 of the starters we ordered and we had to send back 2 steaks which were overcooked and were cold. There was no apology at all from the staff over their errors. On the plus side our smoked raclette was delicious and the replacement steaks were also good even if the ordered vegetables and sauce never materialized.
we were very excited when we were able to get a table for 5 last minute. we just arrived late evening to the resort and we were welcomed with a great table and fine food. Great quite atmosphere. we loved it so much we came back again. what a treat. certainly a place you must visit when in Avoriaz. Easy walk from hotel Chandra entrance. 5metres from our front door. We'll be back!
