My wife and I were disappointed with our evening meal, half the plate was taken up by salad and we noticed other diners leaving some of theirs, and I suspect the dessert was shop bought not home made as we were told. We didn't consider...it good value for what it cost, we had better meals for the same price and less during our holiday. The owner and his daughter were very friendly and accommodating and the position of the hotel overlooking a lake was excellent, and it was within walking distance of our chambre d'hote but the following night we drove to Lac Vassiviere and had a much better meal at the Logis hotel
At first it was hard with the boss because we're deaf. communication doesn't go too well after he understood so he mime bcp more it's fun...The entrance we took the carpacio (photo) is good but it lacks the basil touch to reveal bcp more! Then the chicken skewer with cuckoos too good! We've had a good treat! We forgot to take the photo because it was blown directly ); the very good cheese plate banana ice cream, caramel and rum as good!The terrace is simple but very quiet! full of turkeys that fly and beautiful view to the lake! Here are our opinions!
The boss was very unpleasant with me!As the restaurant coffee shows wifi on its facade I had come with my computer. There is the wifi but it is forbidden to plug your computer into the current even if the table is next to a socket! When I asked why I was told, "because I'm the boss."As I complained a little, the English boss told me ironically when I was leaving "live the france" I replied "live England". Would it be a problem with French? In any case if you come don't touch the electrical sockets! ;)
Thoroughly enjoyed several meals at La Bellerive during our recent holiday in Peyrat. The hotel and restaurant are run by a very pleasant English family and while the menu is a little limited, the food offered during our visits was always excellent plus our...daughter loved the home cooked chicken nuggets (a pleasant change from the steak hache served in most other places in France) Would recommend the Bellerive Burger plus the mussels as a starter were divine.

On a Tuesday there is little choice of where to eat in Peyrat le Chateau. We went to the Bellerive and as it 'specializes ' in burgers ordered a burger each. It was the worst burger I have ever been served with. The host is very...chatty and pleasant but that does not make up for very poor food, burger patties that look like they have been cooked from frozen (ie boiled) or chicken that was crumbed, pressed chicken and not the advertised fillet.
the hotel was in a great location over the beautiful lake. we had a room on the top floor that had a private balcony and probably gave the best views. the owners were very friendly and helpful with suggestions of places to visit in. the opposite they were most accommodating and they felt nothing was too much annoyed. we were only 3 nights, but would like to come back a week and explore the opposite.
a family restaurant hotel held by an English family in the heart of the limousin. Beyond a small hotel very well held, we found a nice restaurant with a nice vegetarian burger in the country of meat. an English boss who speaks French and a French waitress who slips an English word in each sentence; charmingnb: Don't forget to test the Irish coffe.
We found ourselves a little by chance, but it was one of the only restaurants open on Sunday night before the season and we were not disappointed. very warm british welcome, correct kitchen for the price, seen superb on the lake.

So we also tested the restaurant to stay on site. The dishes were good, well done. We ate well. practical and pleasant to avoid moving once the evening comes. The boss and his team are very nice and listened to (gluten free pb.)
