"Family run place, fresh and tasty food. The choice is not huge, but everything is really good. Simple but traditional restaurant, brasserie style, and very reasonable priced."

Under the shadow of the Hotel St. James and it 's Michelin restaurant, which was closed when we stayed there, this little gem of a restaurant saved our stay in Bouliac, where there was nowhere to eat....we thought. This small but very busy restaurant, most patrons seemed to be french locals who often knew each other, features deliciously well cooked home style meals. They cooked me an entrecôte steak perfectly, which came with frites and a little green salad in the true french (and Bordeaux) style, and was succulent. Although we came without reservations, the staff made every effort to fit us in and were courteous and very friendly. There is not a huge selection, but the menu isn 't covered...

Typical French cuisine with nice wines. It was a reminder of France as it used to be. We both had a delicious terrine as starter followed by a traditional daube de bœuf. Then we shared a tarte tatin. All washed down with a local wine, which was actually from Carignan but not within the appellation rules. Delicious

This place is a gem. They have an inspired chef and the food is always delicious, the staff is friendly and professional, and the deco is charming and a bit quirky, including the big terrace. We had lunch on several occasions and never been disappointed.

A quirky ambiance makes for a pleasant background for lunch or dinner. The food was delicious and especially the black sausage velouté (soup) was very surprising (in a good way).
