We have eaten at the Cafe des Arts several times now - we usually go there after we have been to the Friday morning market. We always have their menu du jour, plus a couple of good 'pressions' as our aperitifs. I realised that I haven't ever done a reviewof this restauarnt for Trip advisor, so am now putting this right. We are still managing to get to this lovely traditional restaurant almost every Friday. The quality of their 'Menu de Jour' is just so good. Last friday we both had a Strasbourg salad to start (not the slimey stuff you get in the supermarkets, but homemade and delicious), followed by a fillet of cod with its accompaniments and beuatifully creamy rice pudding - that is €12,40 per person. Plus the 2 beers, 50cl of Anjou red and two coffees to wake me up for my french lesson in the afternoon. €39. Very nice discovery! The bistro formula remains unbeatable value for money considering what is on the plate. The flavors are there, the presentation is impeccable as are the welcome and the setting. In the city center, the establishment clearly stands out for its atmosphere and its culinary offerings which also have the good taste of changing very regularly. In short, undoubtedly an address not to be missed in Thouars, for my part I found my lunch canteen for the days when I want to leave the office.
Visited this place with friends today. Food was very good, choice of 2/3 courses, one dish in the first 2 but more choice for a dessert. Lots of different beers as well as wine by the carafe.Staff friendly and attentive. Nice garden if the weather is good, unfortunately it wasn't the day we went. Will definitely go again.

A good place for drinks and/or light meals - a lovely atmosphere sitting either inside with Arts Deco beauty or outside under canopy of vines and greenery. The food is well cooked and I'd agree the Menu de Jour is always good - I'd recommend this for its ambiance alone!
Super, quirky place. It's like going back to the late 1920s. A great place to sit and have a coffee, beer, wine and lunch. Staff are very pleasant, service excellent. You could just sit all day and watch the world go by outside.
