"I stopped briefly at Le Chalet on a cruise excursion during a visit to Corsica. We had an hour in this area so after a short walk to admire the stunning scenery in that location I popped in for a drink. I didn't eat here but the food others on the excursion were eating looked good. The internal décor is a little unusual, which adds to its charm. Worth a stop if you are passing this way."

We were two families of three travelling to Corte when we realised that lunch hours in France are very specific. We stopped at Le Chalet for a quick one. The salad was very good, the steaks are ok, hand cut chips and a good glass of Amber Pietra. All in all, the food was good, rustic. The service was prompt however not very friendly. Just went on with their business and shoved the plates on the table. On the curve of the main road to Corte, so not much of a view but we didn't feel the cars driving past. Very Corsican, with all the salamis and boar hanging inside.

You come around a bend in the road and there it is, a little gem of a Cafe/Restaurant "Le Chalet" set in stunning mountainous countryside. Okay, it is near the road, but just the sort of place to stop for good, wholesome food. We. Called twice, the breakfast was a basket of very fresh croissant and excellent coffee, the lunch was a platter of local charcuterie, followed by chicken with pasta (yum), my husband chose lasagne (tasty). It is busy, with all sorts of characters. The staff are so kind and helpful. Loo's are just okay. Parking good. Will call again.

What a gem of not only a restaurant but of location, on the road through the vizzavona region you turn on a bend of the road and there it is, our weather was perfect so that after sampling some of the regional produce for lunch we walked around the restaurant and up into the hills for the most beautiful views of the mountains in the distance, we could have been in Austria or Switzerland looking up to the "fringes" of trees up the mountains which stopped at 4,500 feet and then carried on into the craggy peaks.
