Halfway home overnight stay which turned out to be a highlight of our holiday. We arrived in temperatures of 32 degrees and thoroughly enjoyed an hour by the pool followed by dinner on the terrace and a night in a pleasantly air conditioned room with a most comfortable bed. Staff are lovely food very good and the location just off the motorway but somehow quiet and rural most appealing. Skip the chain hotels and stay here!
The 34.95 menu was good value, starting with delicious snails in garlic butter, then a nicely cooked magret of goose. A decent selection of cheeses and an iced nougat of pears completed the meal, with a half bottle of Chinon rouge. Some of the staff seemed inexperienced or under-trained, for example one of the waitresses was unable to tell me the name of the blue cheese, but all were pleasant.
An attractive three star with friendly waitress service on flowery terraces – and a pool for those who need it. Second floor room in main building (no lift) a bit dark and no aircon, but OK. Usual breakfast buffet. Outdoor restaurant very good: regional influence, lentil starter fine but a little dull, pork delicious, tarte tatin a revelation. I’d come back.
Booked here for Dinner bed and breakfast, Beds are small so they put another single is for us which was fine. The evening meal was ok but very small portions and breakfast was a total disappointment we had to get our money back. The staff where rude not in the slightest bit helpful. The best bit about this place was the secure parking.
