We ventured up to Les Rousses above the lac Leman by chance on a recent Sunday, trying to escape the heat of summer 2018. We had no real idea of where we wanted to eat but quickly noted there was a lake near by so we drove up to find a very crowded but picturesque lake as well as this lovely restaurant situated just above. (Careful There is a « snack » It was Sunday lunch and we had not reserved so we got the typically big-eyed « pas de reservation? » but when we agreed to eat inside sudddenly there could be a table for us but surely a long wait. The restaurant changed hands about a year or 2 back and with fantastic results. The family who now own it bring Corsican warmth and service to the Jura. We don't live far from this restaurant and when we have visiting guests or family and need a nearby day out with a bite to eat this is the spot. Serving up consistently good food with a nice wine selection and a smile. We go with our children but this is ideal for couples, business or even alone if you have been walking. Book in advance and ask for a window table not to miss the optimal view (all table have a good view though.
This is a trendy place focused on looks and not on food. The burger and tartar was very disappointing. We think there was msg in some sauces. Escargot, gourmet salad, and morel cream sauce was okay but certainly nothing was at all impressive. The view is great but not worth the food. Log cabin but no wood fire?! Very hipster/trendy. Pushy waiter. Lots of room for improvement. These kinds of places are popping up everywhere and totally miss the focus on food.
Just had a delicious meal here and very happy! The ambiance and the service were great and the views over the lake and the Jura mountains were spectacular. I had the fish of the day and my partner had the Aberdeen angus beef. Both were very well cooked and good quality.
