Seems like the downtown area of Boulogne has fallen on hard times, since the removal of the cross-channel ferry service. While the fortified High Town district still abounds with chic and pricey eateries, the area around the port , which used to provide rich pickings...for hungry visitors has a run down and somewhat seedy feel, and is not what it once was. An exception is Le Cyrano, just one block back from the promenade north of the port. it's ideal if you are looking for a sustaining meal in an authentically north French atmosphere. This is not haute cuisine or fine dining, but honest local cooking with attentive service. This is a great place to eat mussels. Try their Moules aux Maroilles...

We spent NYE in Boulogne sur Mer and booked this restaurant in the last minute. Jerome, Angelique and her son really made us welcome. The food was excellent and we would go back there if we were in Boulogne.
Very unfriendly service, spoke about us in French with other guests because he did not know that we understand. It was not welcome and food was moderate.
