We stayed in the hotel on a Monday night on our way south, and ate in the restaurant that evening. The town, the hotel and the restaurant (there was only one other couple there) were all very quiet, but the meal - with a couple of exceptions - was excellent. The amuse bouches were wonderful - monkfish in pastry with a cream and chive sauce to start, and an apple and champagne sorbet later - and my two main courses, beautifully cooked cod with mushrooms, and some excellent guinea fowl with vegetables, were delicious. However, my partner had lobster which (we assume) had been frozen and her beef was chewy in parts, so these were disappointing. We knew we were in Normandy, because apples featur...

Not far from this establishment is the Mont des Avaloirs, the highest point culminating in the Great West region and the starting point of sources giving birth to very long rivers like the Mayenne and not far the Sarthe... Very little emphasised for its wealth of hiking and panoramic views, it still remains very popular by cyclists for its steep slopes that make it an unmissable place of many major sports rendezvous, yesterday again spent a stage of the Mayenne loops with professional riders! Come and discover this place full of history. Maybe soon? The Normandy Maine Natural Park will be a UNESCO World Heritage Site... Outstanding geological sites, biodiversity and protected environment

The only reason I haven't given this 5 stars is because, although the food was utterly delicious and imaginative, there was just too much. Went for a 3 course menu but every course was interspersed with a starter sized amuse bouche, and the meal itself started with one. So if you go, be aware, and be prepared to stagger from the table! The welcome was excellent and appropriately friendly, and very helpful. We'd hoped to stay the night but Le Dauphin was full and the owner went to the trouble of phoning a friend - to arrange accommodation and took us personally to the place. Personal service indeed!

Warm welcome on arrival. Our room was small but comfortable with lots of special touches. It overlooked the street but was quiet at night. Dinner was superbly cooked local produce and gluten free. Monsieur Bellier really understands the gluten free diet. Other Logis chefs should take lessons from him. He even made corn bread for me. Breakfast was very plentiful but we couldn't do it justice as we were still full from dinner! Sees is a charming little town on a small river.
