We had dinner last night at Jardin des Saveurs in Amélie-les-Bains, where we also had lunch a month or so ago. It's run by a husband-and-wife team, she in the kitchen, he in the rather old-fashioned dining room. Local specialties: salade catalane, boles de picolat with white beans, home-made apple tart with vanilla ice cream. Simple, reasonable (€19 menu,) reliable, copious, friendly. One of the better places in Amélie, which is, overall, not gastronomic heaven. It's hard to know how to rate restaurants. We give it four stars because it comes very close to fulfilling its admittedly modest role, without pretension of any sort.
