you book because fai, your host and chef de cousin, only takes up to twelve people for a time. you're coming to his home on time, because you're expecting that you're eating what he just prepared. it's a bit like being invited. for lunch or dinner by friends: they do not want to wait. then everyone is treated with a hauch of oriental dressed and no, fai does not reveal his recipes. the menu tells them what they eat on this day will not be a choice except dessert. If they are a vegetarian like me, a special meal will be prepared. not the unfortunately frequent selection of cooked vegetables or sad tomatoes and salat, but rather a care and careful selection of enticing who get from the others...
before many times in this restaurant were, but never a special dinner planned until yesterday evening. something like 8 small plate courses came from the kitchen one by one, each one an interesting and tasty take on food from all over the world. we started to travel in france, with tomaten from the chef’s own garden fai, homemade hummus and a local devout blanc battu with homemade pesto, then began with classic dressing from japan, vietnam and china. all to return to france with a delicious homemade torau fraisier with a delicious homemade genoise cake filled with cream and strawberries. I recommend the manoir de saint quentin for parties and special events fai not disappointed, and his pass...
what a pleasant surprise to take the recommendation of a friend and to dine in the restaurant of fai! eating was exquisite in taste and presentation. fai used many concepts and ingredients from his diverse travels. I don't feel like eating in a restaurant, but in a friend's house with the warmest hospitality that live the best of French land!
I literally stop by eating at Fai's restaurant every time I'm around. His fusion of French and Shanghai traditional cuisine is absolutely unbelievable. Everything is fresh and homemade. I advice you to book the table at least one day in advance. The country manor is...beautiful and very romantic (especially during summer). I recommend!
