Pascal, our server really made our visits to Le Martingo special and enjoyable. We had dinner there on three consecutive nights as we were staying at Chateau Bourron and there is very little choice of places to eat in the small village of Bourron-Marlotte. Le Martingo is perfectly located as it is a 5 minute (if that) walk from Chateau Bourron. There's no need to drive which is perfect after a few glasses of wine.We had tried Le Bistrot du Broc twice and did not like the food. Les Premices was good on the first occasion but we were disappointed the second time as the food and service (inexperienced junior staff) was so-so. We were welcomed for lunch despite phoning at 13:45. We had the lunch menu. Entrees were just ok. For mains we both ordered the bavette of beef (flank or skirt steak) cooked medium. Seasoning was a bit light, and there is no salt or pepper provided on the table, and there was no opportunity to ask for some. The sauce was not great. The frites were good. This is a challenging dish for an Australian, firstly because of the cut, and secondly in France medium steak comes with lots of blood (probably equivalent to very rare in Australia). For dessert we ordered a chocolate mouse and a tiramisu. Both desserts were awful, the tiramisu was was just a huge portion of thick paste over a minute piece o...

This is a very nice restaurant for lunch. We had our baby with large stroller with us, which was no problem. Try the terrine the maison! Avoid the salade de maison (unless you are up for the most unhealthy salad in the world with fried Camembert with baked potatoes and bacon). Make sure to make reservations. We were there on Tuesdays and the place was packed. Lovely experience with very nice staff.

The snails, the foie gras feuillete, the wines, tiramisu with salty caramel...melt in your mouth duck or game dishes depending on the season...and its relaxed and fun; this is a place for the gourmands to check out! Great place for family or friends get together or business lunch or event..
