Do not be misled by previous unfavorable reviews of this restaurant, located just above Place Saint-Pierre in a charming, ancient half-timbered building (hence, the name "Le Medieval"). The owner, Majid, is neither mean nor unfriendly, as other uncharitable reviewers have described him. He is hard working and generous to his regular clients (which my wife and I are) and does his utmost to ensure that customers get what they ask for. As he both assists in the kitchen, takes orders, and serves and clears, he is sometimes over-worked, especially when the restaurant is busy. Stopped off whilst passing Chartres on route for the ferry. Very pleased to have found this place - openly lunchtime on Sunday (but very quiet) the welcome couldn't have been friendlier. The decor leaves something to be desired but the welcome was warm and the couscous was excellent. Also terrific value for money - 1 adult and 2 kids ate for just €33 including soft drinks. We were even given a free cup on mint tea and some Turkish delight to finish off. Very close to the cathedral so if you are passing Chartre definitely worth a try.
The grilled meat is perfect. Generous portion in honest price. The service were perfect! The restaurant was busy but we were very well hosted. For sure it became my favorite restaurants or meat in Chartres
