I 'll preface this by saying I 'm not sure what to expect from a restaurant of this calibre in a train station. The food was good but not remarkable; the physical environment was pleasant but not particular welcoming. The staff however were friendly and attentive and made the experience very personal; it would be difficult to fault the waiter who served us our dinner. We left thinking 'that was nice ' but I guess we were hoping for more. It is, of course, very convenient for the train (and for some that will be what makes them eat there, that was certainly the case for us) but within Rennes there are lots more interesting places to eat
Actually, I was expecting a smaller station. It is well located, very close (5 to 10 minutes from a shopping center and a large square (cinema, concerts, ... . You can take your coffee, and consume your food in suitable spaces, but also outdoors. You will be happy because this station offers plenty of space to sit down If you take the TER, Google Maps does not tell you that you have to take a ticket, but it is mandatory, know it!
From the way to Rennes, I was pleasantly surprised by the station. The architecture of this one gives it a luminous effect with a lot of free height. You do not feel that the feeling of being compressed and suffocated under a very low ceiling The signal is well provided and well thought out. I enjoyed this passage in this station
Warm and very pleasant welcome, despite our arrival at 2:30 p.m. We were offered a small but very varied card. It's an enchantment for taste buds. A real pearl in the Gare de Rennes. With, to crown everything, an absolutely charming staff. Small detail: TGV-shaped knives!

Finally, gastronomy returns to the station! I realized a beautiful find in Rennes station. The setting is cozy. The reception is discreet and neat. The dishes are refined. I tasted an oatis-Brest, with a delicious cream. A gastronomic break between 2 trains, 1 hour.
For the toilet at the Gare de Rennes... How to say...1€ to go, certainly not the most expensive, what I find aberrant is that there is the machine to pay by cards and without contact but No, we are forced to pay in cash. Emotional...
It's a modern train station. Since its renovation, it is convenient to modify the TER and TGV trains and connect to the metro and to the bus. It is clear, there is Wi-Fi, restaurants, including McDonald 's and a Paris Brest

For the tourist I am, beautiful station with interesting clean lines. Many franchises, few places to sit or wait. Too bad.
